Kate Pence is from Troy, Ohio. She is currently a junior at the University of Cincinnati, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in communication, a minor in marketing, and a certificate in public relations. She holds a 4.0 GPA and Dean’s List honors.
Her work experience includes retail sales associate at Echõ Boutique in Troy, Ohio. As a retail sales associate she offered customers personal service and polite support to increase sales and customer satisfaction. She was a former nanny, caring for two kids. As a nanny she organized fun and educational games, read storybooks that increased childrens’ interest in story time, and planned outdoor activities such as walking to the neighborhood park.
She has a passion for kids and values giving back to her community through service opportunities.
Her community involvement includes volunteering at her local nursing home, contributing time playing Bingo with the elderly. She was a Reading Buddy, reading with 1st grade students once a week to provide tutoring services as well as developed relationships with them over the course of the school year. She currently is a College Mentor for kids at the University of Cincinnati. As a mentor she contributes to positive youth development and increases educational engagement among youth participants to encourage educational achievement and future economic self-sufficiency.
